Silo & Art – Now On the Shores of the Saar

The Silo Redefined

Imagine the Silo and the surrounding area as indoor & open air gallery, a sculpture garden where artists can show monumental works of art. Imagine such a thing @ the Römerkastell, a historic area in the Saarland … thousands years of history.

You are laughing, we know. But in 2006 and 2007, artists began to develop this idea. You saw shows boasting a wild variety of styles and approaches – mostly the work of “emerging” artists – in painting, sculpture, photography, installation, performance and video art. And we will continue. For just a moment in the Silo's history, the giant tower has been and will be transformed into an art gallery in Saarbrücken. In future, for just a moment the Silo could also be transformed into a creative open air gallery.

Be with us in 2008 and 2009 … to share our visions, ideas … shows. We, the artists, will do all the possible to continue on the shores of the Saar River.
